Miller's Pub in Chicago
In the permanent shadow of the metal platforms that support Chicago's elevated subway system, Miller's Pub has been a Chicago institution for over 60 years.
Here you can enjoy a wide variety of beers, many on tap, and Chicagoans claim that the ribs here are the best in the city; the famous "B.B.Q. Ribs", whose "Platter" alone feeds two people. There is also a more traditional menu of salads, grilled meats and fish, burgers and sandwiches.
The large room has tables arranged around comfortable banquettes at the edge of a very long bar in dark patinated wood. The walls are decorated with historical photos, baseball uniforms, various souvenirs and TV screens showing baseball, American football, billiards and golf.
Behind the bar, orders are placed directly with the bartender, who places the plate on a wooden tray that clips onto the counter. Clever and ideal for watching a game while eating.
